Q: HOW DO I GET STARTED/REPRESENTATION WITH WYNN STAR PROD. & TALENT AGENCY?

 

A: First, you would need to email (info@wynnstar.net) and send your application and photos. If I think  you have what it takes then I will schedule a time with you to come in at OPEN audition/casting call/interview.  A schedule casting call will be posted here regularly.  You will be ask to complete and fill out an information/application sheet onsite which includes: Name, Address, Phone Number(s), Email Address, Height, Weight, Hair Color, Eye Color, All Clothing Sizes and Shoe Size etc.  List any previous experience, or training classes for modeling or acting that you have already taken, or classes that you are currently attending.  The interviews usually take about 15-20 minutes.  No FEE to register thru Wynn Star!!!

Q: DO I NEED TO HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE OR CLASSES IN ORDER TO GET ACCEPTED?

 

A: No, you do not need previous experience in order to work for the agency.  However, if you are wanting to do Acting, then yes, you need either to have taken acting classes for Films/Movies, or have already acted in a Film with a speaking role.  As far as anything else is concerned, you do not need any previous experience.  At jobs, they always tell you what they want you to do, and you simply follow directions.

Q: DO YOU OFFER ANY CLASSES?

Q: WHAT ARE THE AGENCY POLICIES AS NEW TALENT?

 

A: I want to work with talents that are self-motivated, able to take direction, and love to entertain/perform. I am very committed to using all of my energy and resources in the industry to guide your career and build industry contacts for you.  Talents are expected to:

- Maintain current headshots, resumes and valid work permits (minor)
- Set up a Coogan Trust Account at a bank (minors)
- Have you enrolled in at least one class at all times (improv, on-camera, commercial, cold reading or scene study)
- Be available for auditions
- Follow the guidelines set up by Wynn Star Production and Talent Agency
- Always arrive on time to appointments and auditions
- Do not bring other children (siblings or friends) to the set who are not being employed
- Know how to behave at auditions and on set
- Always bring valid work permit (original, not a copy), Trust Account information, passport or two valid forms of ID to set in order to get paid
- Know how to complete a W-4,  I-9, and W-9 forms (all available on this website) - check with your accountant.
- Always bring 3 hours of schoolwork (homework, workbooks, computer) to set during the school year
- Be familiar and knowledgeable about the child labor laws and working hours of minors

Q: AM I GUARANTEED FOR WORK?

 

A: No. In this industry the client has the right to select the model or talent that best suits the job. Agents can suggest whom they feel might be the best selection for a specific job; however, the client makes the final selection.

Q: AM I ALLOWED TO BE WITH OTHER AGENCIES?

 

A: You will be given a choice of signing an exclusive or non- exclusive agreement. Most models and talent opt for a non-exclusive contract, and it depends on your market and the division you are listed under. Most fashion divisions are somewhat exclusive in each market. If you are a commercial or promotions model or an actor/actress, you are allowed to be with more then one agency as long as it is a non- exclusive contract with each.  But for Wynn star's highly recommendation, I want you to choose wisely.

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN AGENT AND A MANAGER? 

 

A: An agency represents many talents and although they promote you, you are one of many clients. Managers work with few talents and it is more of a personal relationship. Managers push you to many different agencies for projects giving you a variety of opportunities. Managers take about 10-15% and agencies take 20%. You can have an agency without having a manager, but you would rarely have a manager without having an agency.

Q: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A TALENT AGENCY AND A CASTING AGENCY? 

 

A: Model and talent agency's work with casting directors. Casting directors and agency's are not in competition with each other. Casting agency's reach out to talent agency's for submissions to projects.

Q: WHAT ARE LABOR LAWS FOR CHILDREN?
 

A: The State of California has strict child labor laws that all employers must abide by. Please be aware that a certified studio teacher must always be on the set (including evening, weekends and holidays). Children can be hired between 5am – 10pm, for a maximum number of hours each day. A majority of those hours are allotted for work, with the remainder set aside for schooling, rest and relaxation. A parent/guardian must accompany a minor and be present while the minor is employed. Parents/guardians have the right to be within sight and sound of their children, and have the right to say no to any activity, stunt or action that they feel may place their children in physical or emotional jeopardy. No minor may be forced to work or be intimidated.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Q: DOES MY CHILD NEEDS A COOGAN ACCOUNT?

 

A: The State of California requires a "Coogan Law Blocked Bank Account for Minors" to be established for all minors hired to work in the broadcast and film departments of the entertainment industry. This account should only be opened when a minor has been officially hired as a temporary employee for broadcast or film work. The Employer (not your agent) will directly deposit a mandatory 15% of a minor's gross earnings into this account. Funds in the account are blocked until the minor is 18 years old. Most major financial institutions will set one up and provide a Certification of Trustee as proof the account exists. Call your personal financial institution and make sure that they know this type of account is not a "Court Ordered" or "CUTMA" account.
